OneCamp hosted a group of VIPs on Friday morning, eager to see Scouts in action and learn more about our amazing event.
The group was given a guided tour of the site and the activities, and took time to speak with youth members to hear their stories.
One of those special guests was the Hon Hannah Beazley MLA, Minister for Youth.
‘OneCamp is absolutely amazing,’ said Minister Beazley following the tour. ‘It was really inspiring and enlightening to see how much young people have contributed to the co-design process for the camp and the autonomy they’ve been given.’
‘Every young person I’ve spoken to has had trouble picking just one highlight from the last week.’
Guiding the VIPs were members of the Design Squad, who represent the voices of young people at OneCamp.
‘It’s been interesting to meet everyone and understand how their roles relate to Scouting,’ explained Charlotte, a Darlington Venturer from C03 who is also the Venturer Scouts Youth Commissioner.
Members of the National Youth Program Team have spent the week at the Swan Valley Adventure Camp studying how the magic of OneCamp was brought to life.
‘It’s been fantastic to see the involvement of young people in the organising and leading of OneCamp,’ said Lily Canalese, Assistant National Commissioner Youth Program, who supports major Scouts Australia events.
‘OneCamp has brought the program to life,’ added Nick Molnar, the Deputy National Commission Youth Program.
‘Scouts WA has done an exceptional job, and we can’t wait to share OneCamp’s learning and successes with the rest of Scouts Australia.’
