The three activity rotations are Trees Adventure, canoeing and mountain biking.

Packing list

What to wear in the canoe

  • Water shoes/old runners (to wear in canoe, will likely get wet)
  • Long pants. Quick dry lightweight is best – NO jeans. Shorts can be worn in canoe but must be worn in conjunction with copious sunblock
  • Rashie, preferably long-sleeved, long-sleeved fishing shirt or group shirt is fine too
  • Wide-brimmed sun hat
  • Sunglasses (optional)
  • Rain jacket if raining or rain likely

Personal day equipment

10L drybag to use as a day bag will be issued for required safety equipment at your pre-briefing. You will get to keep it. Put into it the following:

  • Rain jacket (check weather forecast)
  • Lunch + snacks (collect from Lunch Mart before you depart the OneCamp site)
  • Lunch box for lunch and snacks, suggest put in cooler bag to keep fresh
  • Water x 3+ litres across multiple bottles.
  • Small personal first aid kit (bandaids, silver survival blanket etc)
  • Small bag of day toiletries: deodorant, roll on bug repellent, small sunscreen, lip balm, small hand sanitizer, tissues/toilet paper just in case
  • Pen or pencil and small notebook or paper in a zip lock bag
  • Piece of foam to sit on, canoe seats are not always super comfy
  • Big piece of foam/sponge to help bail water from your canoe

Overnight Bag

Packing list for at night/on land – to all be in one big overnight bag preferably, can strap oversize items to the outside. Will be delivered to Bayswater Sea Scout Hall.

    • Dilly bag: plate, bowl, cup, knife, fork, spoon, chux cloth
    • Comfortable shoes e.g., runners for on land
    • Change of underwear and land socks – NO ankle socks (for camping)
    • Small bag of overnight toiletries: e.g., small soap, facecloth, small towel, toothbrush, small toothpaste, comb/brush, tissues
    • Sleeping bag and mat, pillowcase to put jumper into for pillow or small travel pillow
    • Torch (waterproof or in zip lock bag) with spare batteries
    • Spare clothes – ensure warm clothing including warm jumper/polar fleece, gets cold at night
    • Warm PJs
    • Large zip lock bags for any wet clothing
    • Warm hat/beanie for at night

  • Separate pair of enclosed shoes to wear on the bus / around campsite
  • Water clothes for sailing: long-sleeved rashie, plus long board shorts or lightweight pants that can get wet. Bathers to wear under pants if you choose, but legs, shoulders and arms must be covered for sun and wind protection

  • Lunch + snacks (collect from Lunch Mart before you depart the OneCamp site)
  • Sleeping bag
  • Lightweight ground mat
  • Suitable clothing for hiking (include a set of spares)
  • Suitable shoes for walking
  • Raincoat and (optional) rain pants
  • Spare pair of underwear and socks
  • Personal toiletries
  • Personal first aid kit and medications
  • Map compass (if you have one)
  • Water bottle
  • Pencil and pad
  • Head torch
  • Hike cooking stove (if you have one)
  • Dilly bag including cutlery, crockery, and a dish cloth
  • Allow for pack space for additional equipment that you will be provided.
  • Lunch boxes and zip lock bags (for carrying rations / garbage).

Scouts do not need to bring your own tent for this Mini Expedition. Adult Leaders do need to bring their own tent for this Mini Expedition.
