Venturers and Rovers were in the driver’s seat with four days of high-octane action at the Discover Motorsports expedition.
Based at the Beverley OffRoad Motorsports Association, participants gained hands-on experience in racing and vehicle maintenance.
‘It was awesome, we got to drive rally cars,’ said Julian, a Carlisle Venturer from B08. ‘We got to modify and race old Holden and Mazda sedans.’
‘I love cars and motorsports in general. It was everything I wanted and more.’
Ned, another Carlisle Venturer, was proudly displaying his 1st Place trophy as he returned to OneCamp. The prestigious prize was awarded to the fastest driver on the expedition.
‘I was really surprised,’ explained Ned. ‘I had never driven a manual before, and it’s inspired me to get my license.’
When they weren’t behind the wheel, the expedition enjoyed nights hanging out around the campfire, playing games or watching movies.
OneCamp participants are advised to take care around the Discover Motorsports team as they adjust to a slow pace of transport – walking.
Could one of these Venturers or Rovers be the next Oscar Piastri or Max Verstappen?
