Cubs cruise into OneCamp

Cub Scouts descended on the Swan Valley Adventure Centre on Tuesday to begin their OneCamp adventure.

466 Cubs and their Leaders arrived on buses from all across WA and interstate. The Cubs could hardly contain their excitement as they were organised into their OneCamp Units and headed off to find their campsites.

‘The bus was long and loud, but lots of fun,’ said James, a Bibra Lake Cub from W03.

‘I chatted to friends and we sang ‘Sweet Caroline’ to pass the time.’

Neve, Rowan and Theo, Pelican Point Cubs from B06, all said they were looking forward to Discover Splash, when they will visit Perth’s Outback Splash waterpark.

OneCamp will be an extra-special experience for Hamish, a North Beach Cub from B03, who will be celebrating his birthday while at camp.

‘I’m looking forward to riding the Wedgie, the fastest water slide at Discover Splash.’

Connor, a Lake Burley Griffin Cub from O03, had travelled all the way from Canberra, ACT to attend OneCamp. He and his family arrived last month for a family holiday and had seen dolphins at Monkey Mia and quokkas on Rottnest Island.

It wasn’t just the Cubs arriving on site today. Groups of Venturers, Rovers and Guides braved the buses to make their way to OneCamp.

This is the second OneCamp for Evie, a Ballajura Guide with B02, who attended OneCamp 2023. Evie were looking forward to visiting all the interesting market stalls at the Discover Scouts Day.

‘I wanted to come back again this year. I had a lot of fun last time and wanted to see what it’s like as a Venturer.’

Anthony, a Baywater Venturer from W01, was counting down the days until his visit to the Margaret River chocolate factory.

‘I’m looking forward to Discover Splash and catching up with friends in other Units,’ added Jaden, a Riverton Venturer from C06.
