ONECAMP 2026

THE DAILY ONECAMP

Columbia: Lights, Camera, Action!

Scouts can become a movie star, an award-winning director or a special effects genius at the Columbia activity base.

Located above the shop, the Columbia onsite activity gives participants hands-on experience in writing, filming, and editing a short film.

According to Claire Henthorn, the Branch Commissioner Media, this is the first media activity of its type for Scouts WA.

‘We want to bring more videography and photography into the youth program.’

‘The activity engages youth with something that they love, and we get to put their videos out into the Scouting world.’

THE ONECAMP DAILY team joined two Scouts from Secret Harbour Scout Group in WA as they filmed around the campsite. They want to create a short film that showcases how fun and accessible the event is for young people.

‘I just love all aspects of film and photography,’ explains Matilda, when asked why she chose the Columbia activity.

‘I really want to do special effects and film make-up’, added Rosie.

After filming, the Scouts returned to the Columbia editing suite to create their masterpiece.

Stay tuned to the OneCamp social media channels to see the amazing videos that the Columbia activity is producing.
