Today marked the official opening of the Mission activity base, which honours the spirit of the ANZACs.
What makes the activity base special is that it is only open to Cub Scouts.
‘I wanted to make a base that was ANZAC-themed,’ explains Chloe, the OneCamp Entertainment Director who is also the mastermind behind the Mission activity.
‘Cubs complete six different Operations at the base. They race through the commando course, make poppies and field rations, break codes, practice first aid, and learn Anzac Day history.’
Bella, a Bateman Winthrop Venturer from O04, was helping the Cubs with the codes activity.
‘They create a coded message and then get a friend to decode it. They said they’re having fun!’
Over at the commando course, Joeys and Cubs were racing over and under the obstacles.
Charlie and William, Karratha Joeys from B04, enjoyed the tyre swing and swinging logs.
‘I got really dirty,’ said Chloe from Waylen Bay O08 after she finished the course.
‘I’m glad there are showers at camp!’
