Want to take a peek into the history of Scouting?
The dedicated team from the Scouts WA Heritage Centre have brought their collection of Scouting memorabilia to the Pioneering activity base and is sharing the history of Scouting with OneCamp participants.
‘We have books, teddy bears for sale, badge swapping, and old uniforms,’ explains Mac, the ‘Badge Bloke’ who offers badges for sale and trade.
The knot-tying machine challenges Scouts to tie knots as quickly as possible. The current record is 2:96 seconds for a bowline. The challenge is open to anyone who thinks they can beat that time.
‘The activity is very fun,’ said Alexander, a Scout who was trying on an old Venturer uniform from the 1960s. ‘It’s interesting and I’ve been able to swap some badges.’
Linda, a member of the Heritage Team, has event scarves and lucky-dip badge packs for sale.
A raffle to win a large teddy bear in a custom Scout uniform is also proving popular.
Leaders and supporting adults are invited to visit the Heritage Team on Tuesday 14 April from 9:00 – 11:00 AM for a special Leader’s activity session.
