The much anticipated medieval box battle happened yesterday and of course your THE DAILY ONECAMP war correspondents Jay and Jai were on scene, ready to report on the action.
Prior to the battle, Scouts had 30 minutes to prepare their carboard armour and weapons for battle and we took the chance to interview a few of the Scouts before the battle.
Running the event was Brent from North Beach who gave us some good strategy tips for the Scouts. His advice was that Scouts should not try to be the first ones to run into the battle as attack isn’t always the best strategy. He recommended waiting at the back and attacking when the enemy is weak.
Unfortunately it seems that only some of the Scouts listened to Brent’s tips.
Manjimup Scout Ryan told us that his plan was to charge straight in and attack.
Scout Thomas had a bit of a different strategy, he said he would simply runaway and hide until the battle was almost over and then he would reappear at the end to help his team win.
THE DAILY ONECAMP was unable to find either of these Scouts after the battle and we fear they may have perished in battle.
Scouts were split into two opposing teams, Team A was made up of Villages B and C while Team B had Villages O and W.
That battle itself lasted for perhaps 5 or so minutes and in the end Villages O/W were the last ones standing.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Scout activity without a bit of looking after the environment chucked into the activity as well. Scouts had to clean up after the battle, disposing of all the rubbish, leaving no evidence that the battle ever took place!
