Just like the MESSENGER space probe, at the Messenger activity zone, you to can come crashing to the ground… well your drone or LEGO bridge can at least.
If you haven’t already guessed, the Messenger activity zone is space and STEM themed, the perfect place to put your mind to the test!
So, what kind of activities can you expect to find here? Well perhaps you want to try your hand at flying a drone through an inside obstacle course? Based on our extensive observations, we can report that it is harder than it looks.
Maybe you want to release your inner engineer through LEGO? Here you try to build the longest LEGO bridge that can hold the most weight. According to one of the leaders, the longest bridge measured in at 2.05 metres! Of course, size isn’t everything, the weight that your LEGO bridge can carry matters too!
You can also control or program a Sphero robot and help it navigate through a carboard maze. But if you really want to put your mind to the test, you can try one of the escape rooms.
However the highlight for your THE DAILY ONECAMP team was having one of the Leaders at Messenger, who also happens to be a volunteer at the Perth Observatory, give us a look directly into the sun! Now we know what you are thinking, looking directly into the sun is quite dangerous, but you can get a look when you use a solar telescope. Thanks to the Swan Valley Adventure Centre being located away from most light pollution, we were able to get a good look directly at the sun through the telescope.
You can experience all this at Messenger.
But wait there’s MORE! On Monday and Tuesday between 7-9pm come along to Messenger for some star gazing. You even get to use telescopes! Leaders are welcome to come along too!
